Appendix 1: Reversed Installation of Robotic Arms from Operator Side Dropping to Non-operator Side Dropping
Abstract

When you make an order of the robotic arm for your injection molding project, we'll have the robotic arm assembled to be either have the parts dropped from the operator side or non operator side according to your project, but some times you'll have to change the dropping of the parts to the other side of the injection molding machine. In this situation you'll have to reverse the installation of the robotic arm. In this chapter we'll a 3 axis servo injection robot with Panasonic servo motor and driver as an example to demonstrate how to have a reversed installation of the robotic arms.

1. Description of the Parts to be Reverse Installed

Description

  • A: Electric Control Box
  • B: Base
  • C: Pressure Adjust Valve
  • D: S6 Induction Bar
  • Sensor Reverse 1: The sensor "Normal On" is the starting limit switch and the other one is the origin sensor.
  • Sensor Reverse 2: The sensor "Normal On" is the horizontal out limit switch and the other is the "out of the mold area" sensor.
2. The Reversed Installation of the Base and Sensors
  • Remove the connecting screw between the base (B) and the beam, and turn the direction of the base as showed as the picture above.
    Note: The base must be in the same direction as the beam.
  • Remove the Pressure Adjust Valve (C) and have it fixed to the other side of the beam.
  • Have the S6 Induction Bar (D) moved two fixing holes toward the other side of the beam and fixed it.
  • Exchange the position of the sensors in Sensor Reverse 1 & Sensor Reverse 2
3. Modify the Parameter of Panasonic A6 Driver

Panasonic A6 Parameter Setting

  • Pr0.00: 0 → 1 or 1 → 0
  • Pr0.12: 0 → 1 or 1 → 0

The Modification Process:

Press key "S" → then press key "M" (One time), find Pr0.00 → press key "S" (One time), if the parameter displayed is "1", modify it to "0"; if its "0" then change it to "1" (press up/down key to modify the parameters). After all the settings finished, press the key "S" for 2 seconds → press key "M" (One time) → press key "S" (One time) → press key "UP" (Keep 7 seconds until the screen display "-----") to save the setting.

Repeat the process above to set the parameters of Pr0.12 and have the robot power off and restart again after all the parameter settings finished. The robot would be origined with the new setting.

Introduction of SWITEK Side Entry Petri Dish Packing System

The SWITEK side entry petri dish packing system is a custom made automation system for the stable production of laboratory consumable plastic petri dish with the picking robot, the petri dish assembly, stacking, packing unit etc. integrated as auniformed system for the efficient and stable production of the petri dish. The system can be custome made for a petri dish mold layout design of 2+2, 4+4, 6+6, 8+8 etc.

  • (1) -- Side Entry Robotic Arm: The picking arm of the packing system in handling the picking of the petri dish from the injection molding machine and place them on the assembly unit.
  • (2) -- Injection Mold: The core injection unit to shape the petri dish, it can be 2+2, 4+4, 6+6, 8+8 configuragion of the petri covers and bottoms.
  • (3) -- Petri Dish Assembly Unit: Have the cover and bottom of the petri dish assembled and drop it on the conveyor.
  • (4) -- Sorting Conveyor: Lined the assembled petri dish sets for stacking before packing.
